The Public Hospitals Authority Grand Bahama Health Services held the Official Recommissioning Ceremony under the theme, “We Remember our Past, We Celebrate our Present, We Believe in our Future” on Friday, April 23.
Minister Wells said, “Those of us throughout the Bahamian health care sector will long remember the devotion to duty displayed by our colleagues in the Grand Bahama Health Services family. Your sacrificial service during the height of Hurricane Dorian and through the challenging weeks and months that followed have set a high standard that all of us in the health care sector should wish to emulate.”

He said, “I could not be more proud of you and all that you have done collectively and individually to ensure the delivery of essential health care services to the people of Grand Bahama in the wake of one of the world’s most horrific natural disasters.
“Your service reinforced the view that we are a nation of people with an indomitable spirit. I am proud to serve as your voice as the Minister of Health and I am proud to recognize your achievements in repairing and restoring this vital public hospital institution.”
Following the blessing, unveiling of the plaque and cutting of the ribbon, the delegation toured the Pharmacy, Lula Knowles Paediatrics Ward, Maternal and Child Health Block, Medical/Surgical Block, Critical Care Block, Operating Theatre, Chapel and the Healing Garden.
