The stay-at-home response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic prompted a rare “pre-season” surge in ice cream sales at grocery and convenience stores across the country, said Luconda Dager, president, Velvet Ice Cream, Utica, Ohio, family-owned ice cream maker.
